Albuquerque Heading Home
Poverty Simulation 2012
Albuquerque Housing Authority
WE NEED VOLUNTEERS
Albuquerque Heading Home will be presenting another very participatory, evidence-based poverty simulation the afternoon of Thursday, October 25, 2012 for the Albuquerque Housing Authority staff.
We are looking for a corps of volunteers to help implement the
3-hour event.
WHO
We need a mix of people willing to participate as service providers, vendors, law enforcement, and so on, who have had some variation of real-life experience in such roles. This includes and is not limited to those who have experienced poverty.
LEVEL OF COMMITMENT
1. 90-minute volunteer training and assignments immediately prior to the simulation. Please bring a lunch if you’d like and arrive at 12:00 p.m. at the simulation site.
2. 4-5 hours total for orientation, set-up, session, wrap-up on Thursday, October 25 from 12:00-4:30 p.m. The location is currently not secured, so this information will be given as soon as it is available.
AUDIENCE
Participants will be made up of staff of the Albuquerque Housing Authority, and possibly of other City and County housing staff.
RESULT
We hope for this simulation to become a vehicle for reaching across stakeholder groups and sectors, through the efforts of Albuquerque Heading Home, to inform and engage diverse community members in addressing homelessness.
Our vision is that homelessness in Albuquerque is
rare, short-lived and non-recurring.
Please help spread the word.
